The picture above is my new hometown of Nashville TN. Not bad, huh? I moved here in July and have been adjusting to the slower pace of life, compared to the Bay Area. I live close to an agricultural center, so I drive past horses on my way to work and see all kinds of animal life. I'm used to living in wild kingdom in the Bay, but in Nashville there are actual animals in this kingdom ;) My husband and daughter are adjusting very well, and it feels good to be close to family, although I miss my Bay Area family dearly.
In either case, here is what is going on with Sassy Family. My Bay Area coordinator, Sarah Scarbrough, and I are diligently working on securing locations for kid's clothing swaps in October in Oakland and Nashville. Oakland's swap will either be in the Maxwell Park or Fruitvale areas. Nashville's swap will either be in Nipper's Corner or the 12 South area. My hope is by September 20th, locations will be set. I know that people are very interested in the next ones, so we'll be working very hard to let everyone know. We can let you know that both swaps will also be Halloween costume swaps, so they will DEFINITELY be before 10/25!
As for the Sassy Family Craft Fair, we're are re-organizing that event and the hope is by February and April of 2015 we'll be able to have a fair in Nashville and the Bay Area, or 2 in the Bay area for 2015. Watch the website for more details.
Look forward to your continued support of Sassy Family events!
First of all, thanks so much to all that came to the Sassy Family Kid's Swap and Diaper Drive. We had a good crowd (with some return visitors) and a few, but very large, packages of diapers. This time we had visitors all the way until the end of the event, so we didn't lose a lot of parents to the dreaded nap time :) You can check out the pictures on our photo page. Apologies for the directions of some of the pics. When we figure out how to correct it, we'll get the pictures straight :)
In other news, before the swap ended, we made sure to secure Rock Paper Scissors for our next swap. Our next swap will be Saturday, April 5, 10AM-2PM at RPS in Oakland. So that gives you plenty of time to get your clothes and toys together. There will not be a diaper drive at the April 5 event.
Now it's time to get things together for our first craft fair of the year. Our hope is to have it for mid-March. Watch the webpage and this blog for updates on that :)
Again thank you, thank you, thank you to our loyal fans and look forward to seeing you all in the spring!
Rain, Rain Go Away! That's what we were all singing during the one year anniversary of the Sassy Family Craft Fair on September 21. I guess Fall truly did begin in the Bay Area with the first serious rainstorm in a very long time.
However, we did manage to get a small crowd to come and shop! With items ranging from popcorn to handmade jewelry and from sculptures to handbags, there was lots on tap. Those who came bought them all up. There are pictures available on our photo page. Look out for information on our Holiday fair on the webpage soon!
Now, we here at Sassy Family are getting ready for our Kid's clothing and toy swap on October 12 at Rock Paper Scissors in Oakland. Check out our home page for details and we look forward to seeing you there
It's tomorrow! Super excited for our One year anniversary fair! When I had this idea back in June 2012, the original plan was to feature parents who were also crafter and small business owners. Our first fair, on September 22, 2012, featured those kinds of vendors and more. There were lots of glitches in that fair and the one after, but Sassy Family has now evolved to a craft fair that helps those new or small business get started in the fair/festival scene. Plus along with the clothing swaps, you can definitely say the idea of Sassy Family has changed positively since it's original inception.
Now we're at our One year anniversary. Come out and celebrate with us at the Home of Truth on 1300 Grand St. in Alameda. We'll be there from 10AM-2PM with lots of gifts for you. Also watch this website for the ever-evolving Sassy Family.
It's been a very busy August and September getting ready for our next fair, but it looks like we're ready to go!
