So I picked a great time to have the Nashville swap. This is my fall break (Metro Nashville teacher here!) and I thought it would be great to do this at a time when I didn't have to work.
That was until I decided to buy a house.
The close is after the swap, but it was so convenient to be off this week, cleaning for the move and finding tons of my daughter's items to contribute to the swap. As you may know, moving is awful and being able to get rid of stuff and in turn giving it to folks who need it, is great.
I am not a fan of giving to organizations who later resell donated items. Sometimes, though, they are the only places that you have around when you want to donate. Fortunately in Nashville and Oakland, we have other organizations that contribute to families directly and of course, now we have swaps.
So as I clean out my house and give my best, gently used items, to the swap, I hope you will as well. Call it fall cleaning. Maybe you're moving too and you need to reduce some stuff. Whatever the case may be, consider recycling and giving those items to people (in need or not) directly.
See you Saturday!~
