Amazing. Just amazing.
I personally want to thank those who came to our latest Nashville swap. As you may have heard (or read), we had our largest attendance ever in Nashville with 60 attendees. Many people came in not knowing what to expect with the swap concept. Admittedly, swaps are really a hipster thing. They started in cities like NYC, Chicago, and SF and have spread throughout the country. I'm glad that so many were able to show how it worked and how it can benefit a whole community in different ways.
Unfortunately, I couldn't be there for the event. I had a major family medical emergency out of town, so my husband (and Sassy Family board member) Jason had to run the show. With the help of an invaluable volunteer, Colleen, the event ended up being a smash, impressing everyone, including the owner of the donated Main Street Gallery.
We had families from all over the Nashville area, including families that had been struggling to clothe their children. It's our mission and purpose to help all families, especially struggling families, and to be able to do that is awesome.
I have to give a special shout out to our volunteer, Colleen. She not only helped us at the event, but she worked hard on publicizing the event to the greater Nashville community. The biggest reason we had the attendance that we did was because of her efforts. You'll be hearing more about her here at Sassy Family very soon!
On another subject, below is all the donations given just to this swap. It was so much, we had to rent a storage facility to store it all. We have plans for all these items in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
Tomorrow is the day! This picture is all the donations that we could fit in our boxes. There's more. Way more. Way, way more.
Our next swap in Nashville has a lot of excitement with it. Lots of people are emailing and calling with interest in this swap. Hopefully, we'll be doing live updates, if we're not too busy. Look at this blog for more info.
Our Nashville swap is coming up in ONE WEEK!!
With getting things together in creating Sassy Family into a non-profit, this swap has snuck up on me. However, thanks to the hard work of new board member, Barbara and volunteer Colleen, we've been able to get things together and it looks like it will be a good swap.
This will be our first one as an official non-profit and at this swap there will be info on our non-profit status, how your can help or donate, and our plans for the future.
You can look at our HOME page for more details on the this swap, including the new location of the Main Street Gallery. But please, please invite your friends and family to this great event!
Hello and happy summer!
I've been working hard on our next swaps in Nashville and Oakland. I've also received help from some mothers who have been supportive of Sassy Family. In Oakland, you have met Sarah Scarbrough, but now in Nashville, I'm getting help from Colleen Baggett, a mother who loved the Sassy Family swap concept. Colleen has helped us secure a new venue, the Main Street Gallery, for our next swap in July. She's also has been working on a new flyer which should be out and about this week.
Speaking of the Nashville swap, here's the basic info: July 23. 11-1PM. Main Street Gallery in East Nashville. School Uniforms are needed this time since schools start the first week in August. (Yikes)
Follow our FB and Twitter for updates or call 615-398-9872.
In Oakland, we're looking at having a swap in late August before school starts there. School Uniforms will definitely be needed as well.
There are more exciting things going on with Sassy Family this summer so stay tuned!
Happy Mother's Day weekend, Sassy Family!
