Our Nashville swap is coming up in ONE WEEK!!
With getting things together in creating Sassy Family into a non-profit, this swap has snuck up on me. However, thanks to the hard work of new board member, Barbara and volunteer Colleen, we've been able to get things together and it looks like it will be a good swap.
This will be our first one as an official non-profit and at this swap there will be info on our non-profit status, how your can help or donate, and our plans for the future.
You can look at our HOME page for more details on the this swap, including the new location of the Main Street Gallery. But please, please invite your friends and family to this great event!
Hello and happy summer!
I've been working hard on our next swaps in Nashville and Oakland. I've also received help from some mothers who have been supportive of Sassy Family. In Oakland, you have met Sarah Scarbrough, but now in Nashville, I'm getting help from Colleen Baggett, a mother who loved the Sassy Family swap concept. Colleen has helped us secure a new venue, the Main Street Gallery, for our next swap in July. She's also has been working on a new flyer which should be out and about this week.
Speaking of the Nashville swap, here's the basic info: July 23. 11-1PM. Main Street Gallery in East Nashville. School Uniforms are needed this time since schools start the first week in August. (Yikes)
Follow our FB and Twitter for updates or call 615-398-9872.
In Oakland, we're looking at having a swap in late August before school starts there. School Uniforms will definitely be needed as well.
There are more exciting things going on with Sassy Family this summer so stay tuned!
Happy Mother's Day weekend, Sassy Family!

See you in April!
When I moved to Nashville in 2014, my family had a choice of moving to Chicago. I nixed the idea because there was always too much snow, cold and never enough snow days for teachers...
Stupid me :)
So I was getting ready to plan the next swap in Nashville in January and just like last year, Nashville got slammed with 8 inches of snow. For you Northerners, that's not that serious, but for us Southerners, we simply can't drive in that. We're not used to it. Therefore, I couldn't drive to locations to secure them for our next swap here in Nashville.
So February rolls around and I make time to go to East Park and get the venue for our next swap. The day I was supposed to go...more snow.
Finally last week, snow had melted but schools were still closed for lingering ice, I drove to East Park and got the venue. Because of my delays, I had to settle on an April date, but that's cool. I'm excited for our next event on April 2. Watch our Facebook and Twitter for updates!
The April date also works out for our Oakland swaps, since Sarah has been super busy with family, traveling, and getting a new house (hopefully). More info on that date and location will come in March.
One thing that was done during all this snow was creating the paperwork for Sassy Family's non-profit status. Look like in mid-March, we'll be able to incorporate and get our tax ID. That is one step closer to being a non-profit.
Big things are happening...barring any more snow :)
Hello Sassy Family!
It's been a while since I've posted. It's been a busy 2 months. I bought a house in October, my daughter's birthday and Thanksgiving festivities were in November, and I was wrapping up the school year (I'm a teacher during the day) this month. Sarah in Oakland has been busy too, raising her two little ones, getting ready to get another house, and volunteering. But we're both back to do swaps in Oakland and Nashville starting January 2016. During the winter break, I'll be lining up venues and we'll be making an announcement about swaps in late January/early February.
I have also been working to create more of a foundation and mission for Sassy Family. I have taken courses with the Center for Nonprofit Management here in Nashville to make moves towards this. It's time for Sassy Family to become an official entity in helping families. Hopefully by the beginning of 2016, we will set our "cornerstone" to making this mission happen. Look for some exciting changes coming soon :)

Thanks for your support and see you in 2016!
